STRENGTHS

Multitasking: After completing my first semester, I engaged in a reflective self-assessment of my progress thus far. One notable strength I identified was my ability to effectively multitask, a skill that has consistently proven invaluable in managing both my academic workload and day-to-day responsibilities. This aptitude, highlighted in my initial SWOT analysis, has enabled me to not only identify solutions to challenges but also to innovate and create new approaches when faced with complex problems. Its continued relevance underscores its significance in my journey, serving as a cornerstone for my productivity and adaptability.

Academic writing style: Demonstrating personal growth, I have made notable strides in enhancing my academic writing skills. Through active engagement in multiple sessions with the academic writing team and one-on-one consultations, I have honed my ability to craft clear, concise, and well-structured academic papers. This improvement not only enhances my coursework but also bolsters my prospects for career advancement. By refining my writing proficiency, I am better equipped to articulate complex ideas effectively, contributing to both my academic success and professional development as I progress forward.

constructive criticism: Experiencing a significant shift in my mindset, I’ve embraced a newfound openness to improvement and feedback. Previously in my first semester, I may have been apprehensive about receiving feedback, perceiving it as criticism. However, I’ve undergone a transformation, now welcoming feedback from others with an open mind and positive attitude. This change enables me to recognize feedback as a valuable tool for growth and development, rather than viewing it as unwarranted or inappropriate. By embracing feedback constructively, I am better positioned to identify areas for improvement and refine my skills, fostering continuous personal and professional growth.

WEAKNESSES

Presentation skill: Despite meticulous planning and preparation, I continue to encounter challenges in delivering presentations confidently and seamlessly. Even after outlining key points and thoroughly rehearsing, I struggle to convey my ideas without feeling uncertain or forgetting important details. This aspect remains a priority for further development as I progress forward. Acknowledging this area for improvement, I am committed to seeking additional resources and guidance to enhance my presentation skills. By refining my delivery techniques and building self-assurance, I aim to overcome these obstacles and become a more effective communicator in both academic and professional settings.

Critical analysis: In my previous coursework submission, feedback highlighted the need to enhance my critical analysis skills to strengthen the argumentation in my work and move beyond mere description. Recognizing this as an area for improvement, I am committed to addressing it. With the upcoming course on “Using Evidence and Evaluation in Healthcare Systems” and my engagement in personal development courses, I am confident in my ability to bolster my critical analysis capabilities during research endeavors. By actively participating in these opportunities for growth and applying newfound insights, I aim to elevate my analytical proficiency, ultimately producing more impactful and nuanced academic work.

Time management: While there has been some improvement in my time management skills compared to my first semester, I still find myself strugling with effectively balancing my academic responsibilities, family commitments, and job demands. Recognizing the ongoing need for refinement in this area, I am determined to redouble my efforts. By implementing proven time management techniques, such as prioritizing tasks, creating schedules, and setting realistic goals, I aim to optimize my productivity and create a more harmonious balance between my various obligations. Additionally, I plan to seek support from mentors or time management workshops to further refine my strategies and cultivate habits that promote greater efficiency and effectiveness in managing my time. Through consistent effort and dedication, I am confident that I can achieve a more balanced and fulfilling lifestyle moving forward.

OPPORTUNITIES

Recognition and leadership qualities: Investing in both my professional and personal development serves as a catalyst for unlocking avenues of career advancement and gaining recognition within my industry. By prioritizing self-improvement, I not only enhance my skills and knowledge but also cultivate meaningful connections and valuable referrals, setting me apart from my peers. These connections not only bolster my visibility but also create opportunities for advancement and leadership roles. Ultimately, by actively pursuing growth opportunities, I position myself for promotions in leadership and governance, establishing a solid foundation for long-term success and influence within my field.

career development: Enhancing my weaknesses holds the key to unlocking both career advancement and personal fulfillment, laying a solid foundation for future leadership roles. By addressing areas of improvement, I can elevate my skills and expertise, thereby positioning myself for greater opportunities and professional growth. This proactive approach not only enhances my career prospects but also contributes to a heightened sense of self-worth and confidence. Embracing this journey of self-improvement sets the stage for a successful leadership career, characterized by resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous growth.

THREATS

Family pressures and stress: When my family has too many expectations from me in a manner that it becomes very obvious I become nervous and try so hard not to disappoint this sometimes sends a signal to my head what if I don’t meet up with their high expectations which will tend lead to me being stressed out mentally and I start to stutter. This can affect my whole effectiveness and productivity of the day. Stress from house chores, taking care of the baby and keeping the family together also disrupt my productivity and also cause me to delay some of my activities. All these I have identified and need to be developed.

Difference between my first semester SWOT analysis

In my first semester, I struggled with procrastination, time management and failure as those were the weaknesses I needed to work on, knowing to the fact that I barely could understand the importance of these things and also didn’t realise they could hinder my potential as a future healthcare leader. After my first semester submission I started and got my feedback from my tutor that I needed to develop myself further i started aiming at being better and working on myself through the feedback I have gotten.

In my second semester SWOT analysis i had some changes in my weaknesses as I have developed some of my weaknesses from my first semester which is being able to accept constructive criticism. The changes in my weekness symbolises growth and personal improvemt. After my coursework submission, I got feedback from my tutors that I needed to improve my presentation skills and critical analysis skills which will help me foster my academic growth and career.

I am still struggling with managing my time more efficiently although there have slight improvement but this is not constant, also my critical analysis skill was highlighted as one of the areas i needs improvements as i believe it is a gradual process and i intend on developing my weakness to my strenght by seeking help and attending workshops in other to improve better moving forward.
