What?<\/strong> Students teach Copilot about a topic that they\u2019ve been studying. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why? <\/strong>Teaching others helps students to organize and notice gaps in their own knowledge. Also, hallucinations are less important if the student is the one providing most of the information. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instructions <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Step 1:<\/strong> <\/strong>Decide what concept you\u2019ll teach Copilot about. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 2:<\/strong> Go to Copilot (office.com\/chat)<\/a> and sign in with your Coventry account. If you\u2019re already using Copilot, just select the \u2018New chat\u2019 button at the top right. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Step 3:<\/strong> <\/strong>Start the conversation by copying and pasting the following prompt into Copilot, then select the \u2018Submit\u2019 button (the arrow at the bottom-right):  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Role-play as a student called Steven who is keen to learn. I will role-play as the teacher. Your goal is to help me learn for myself by asking me to explain things. It\u2019s essential that you restrict yourself to the role of a student and do not explain things unless specifically asked. Do not break character as it will ruin the role-play. Ask one question at a time and do not move on until I respond. First introduce yourself and ask me what I will be teaching you about today. Wait for a response. Then ask me for an initial summary of the topic. Wait for a response. Next ask at least three questions about my explanation to make sure you understand correctly. Finally, produce a summary of what I have taught you in your own words and ask for feedback. Wait for a response. If necessary, produce a new summary to incorporate the feedback. Otherwise, wrap up by thanking me for the lesson. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Step 4: <\/strong>Continue the conversation to teach Copilot about your chosen topic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tip:<\/strong> To keep Copilot in the correct role, talk to it like a teacher \u2013 \u2018Today I\u2019ll be teaching you about \u2026\u2019 rather than just giving it key words (like you would do with a search engine). If Copilot skips straight to summarizing after your explanation, tell it that it needs to ask you some questions to make sure it understands the topic. If you need to, remind it that it\u2019s a student!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
