Simulations formalise and operationalise some of the fundamental processes and principles that underlay natural phenomena. By doing so, simulations can capture some of the richness of these phenomena without necessarily mimicking their appearance. Simulations are attractive for generative art for several reasons. They make the complexity of natural phenomena accessible and malleable for creative purposes, they allow to manifest these phenomena through other media and modalities than they normally are perceivable in, and they facilitate scenarios for interaction that are intuitive and explorative . The articles presented here cover only a small small number of computer simulations, namely those which were used in the E2-Create project.

The following articles are currently available:

Temporal Derivatives and Numerical Integration

Mass-Spring Simulation

Rigid Body Dynamics

Flocking Simulation

Computer simulations are powerful tools in both science and generative art.
