After working with my SWOT analysis now it’s time to do the SMART plan so that I can identify what action to take next.
A SMART action plan incorporates 5 characteristics of a goal: specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-based. To help you set up a smart action plan, we are going to go through the 5 steps you need to focus on that will help you achieve your goals in a fast and optimal manner.
Goal 1: Achieve a L2/L3 Functional & Skills certificate
I can measure this goal by doing:
- I will watch more Videos on YouTube to improve my speaking and listening skills;
- I will communicate online by chatting to improve my writing skills;
- Due to my PDP module hopefully I’ll be able to improve my writing skills;
- During summer I’ll contract the same course centre, from where last year I took my L1 certificate;
I always try to communicate with my friends and lecturers at Uni and also my current job is helping me to develop my communication skills, so I can say that this is achievable. This goal is relevant because in a professional workplace, it’s one of the main requirements, so I need to do it somehow. I want to achieve the L2 certificate by the end of this year.
Goal 2: Achieve at least One Adobe Certification
This goal is measurable because, for the next year, I can choose to do the Adobe software in my add-vantage module as they’re offering an Adobe license to the students who do this course. They started this year, but unfortunately, I didn’t know about it and I chose Effective Communication Skills 2. This goal is achievable as I already have some knowledge of Adobe software mostly in Illustrator and Photoshop, but also in InDesign. I can feel that I’m doing good improvements in my work through the feedback and the final results. This goal is relevant to my future job, as I will Design logos and other graphic elements such as text, images, and illustrations that appear in advertisements, brochures, catalogues, and other printed materials. I need to fulfil this goal by next year.
