Rolf Reflective Model
I will explain my first-semester journey by using the Rolf Reflective model
What?
I received an assignment back during my first semester of the MSc in Global Healthcare Management, which I finished the day before it was due. I was not too fond of the grades I received for my work, though. I proofread before submitting, but I didn’t ask for any comments. I am anxious and disappointed by my grades since I had such high expectations.
What Now?
My experience taught me that I should have given myself more time to consider the material critically. Similar to the feedback point, I went over every detail of the assignment, but you still need to do a critical analysis. Furthermore, I believe that I completed everything by the deadline for submission. It is up to me to accept the challenge of finishing the assignment requirements and completing the task on time.
What Now?
Based on my overall experience, I will need to work on honing my time management techniques so that I can complete tasks on time. In addition, three days before the submission deadline, you must create a planner, set alarms, and attend drop-in sessions. for me to address the problems found and receive input from the tutor. This will enable me to begin tasks early and complete my upcoming assignments with more effort.
At the end of the second semester, I used Gibb’s model of reflection to understand my journey from the first to the second semester. Graham Gibbs created the Gibbs reflecting model/cycle in 1998. Gibbs’s reflective cycle pushes people to think critically to enhance their ability to reflect and evaluate themselves, learn from their previous mistakes, and make plans for future improvement. There are six steps in this concept (Wilding, 2013).
Description
During my first semester of college, I experienced mixed emotions of anxiety and excitement due to my international study experience and unfamiliar surroundings.
Feelings
In my first semester, I was confused about my decision to pursue further education abroad but also felt overpowered. However, by the second semester, I was more assured of my choice and content with it.
Evaluation
Looking back, I see that my early anxiety was a natural aspect of getting used to this new nation and institution.
Analysis
My grades were not so great in the first semester, so I understood how important it was to ask my mentors for assistance. I had a great second semester of grades.
Conclusion
The initial difficulty turned out to be a chance for me to grow both personally and professionally, and it taught me the value of confidence and self-improvement.
Action Plan
I am going to make better plans, sharpen my critical thinking abilities, and ask for academic assistance when I need it going ahead.
The practice of continuous learning to improve abilities is known as continuing professional development, or CPD (Vazquez-Calatayud et al., 2021). I’ve finished my CPD in critical thinking techniques from an online course that helped me become a better critical thinker. The assignment assessment indicates that I did a very good job of structuring the essay.
