Based on the feedback I received, it’s clear that I need to enhance two key areas in my assignments: the depth of critical thinking/analysis and the use of a diverse range of sources. To address these issues and improve my grades, I will develop a SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) action plan focused on improving my critical thinking skills and source utilization.

  1. Specific: My goal is to deepen my critical analysis skills and broaden my use of sources. This means not just presenting arguments, but evaluating them, considering different perspectives, and questioning underlying assumptions.
  2. Measurable: I will track my progress by seeking feedback from my instructors and peers on draft versions of my assignments. I will also compare my upcoming grades with previous ones to gauge improvement.
  3. Achievable: To achieve this, I will allocate specific time each week to read articles and papers that exemplify strong critical analysis. I will also practice by writing brief critical analyses of these readings, focusing on identifying key arguments, assessing their strengths and weaknesses, and noting any biases or assumptions.
  4. Relevant: Improving these skills is essential for academic success and will be beneficial in my future career, as it will enhance my ability to think independently, assess information critically, and make well-informed decisions.
  5. Time-bound: I aim to see improvement in my next assignment. I will dedicate the next four weeks to developing these skills, starting with one hour of focused practice and reading each day.
