As educators, we need to ensure that our teaching, learning and assessment practice can be engaged with by <strong><em>all<\/em> of our diverse learners<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This could include moving towards more culturally diverse approaches to teaching, such as commitment to decolonise the curriculum, as well as recognises how our students\u2019 (and our own) cultures impact how we perceive and move through the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> Students that are <strong>comfortable<\/strong> in their learning spaces learn more <strong>effectively.<\/strong> At the same time, we need to play an active role in supporting <strong>wellbeing,<\/strong> not only for our students, but for ourselves and our colleagues. You may wish to pay particular attention to this as part of any supervisory responsibilities you have.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button has-custom-font-size is-style-outline has-extra-small-font-size is-style-outline--1\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-black-color has-purple-background-color has-text-color has-background wp-element-button\" href=\"#tfipbackground\">Essential background <\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-button has-custom-width wp-block-button__width-50 has-custom-font-size is-style-outline has-extra-small-font-size is-style-outline--2\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-black-color has-purple-background-color has-text-color has-background wp-element-button\" href=\"#tfipstarted\">Getting  started<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-button has-custom-width wp-block-button__width-50 has-custom-font-size is-style-outline has-extra-small-font-size is-style-outline--3\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-black-color has-purple-background-color has-text-color has-background wp-element-button\" href=\"#tfipfurther\">Take it further<\/a><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-button has-custom-width wp-block-button__width-25 has-custom-font-size is-style-outline has-extra-small-font-size is-style-outline--4\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-black-color has-purple-background-color has-text-color has-background wp-element-button\" href=\"#tfiptry\">Try it out!<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"tfipbackground\">Essential background<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Public sector bodies, including universities, are legally required to meet certain standards in terms of accessibility and inclusion- see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jisc.ac.uk\/guides\/getting-started-with-accessibility-and-inclusion\">this Jisc guide<\/a> for an overview of what this involves.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There are also compelling moral, financial and reputation reasons for the Coventry University Group to adopt an inclusive approach- after all, this aligns with the Group\u2019s objective of providing a \u201chigh-quality, inclusive, and empowering global education\u201d, as outlined in the <a href=\"https:\/\/share.coventry.ac.uk\/staff\/ps\/OTL\/PublishingImages\/Pages\/Strategies\/Education%20and%20Student%20Experience%20Strategy.pdf\">2030 Education and Student Experience Strategy<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Familiarise yourself with what\u2019s on offer in terms of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coventry.ac.uk\/study-at-coventry\/student-support\/\">student support<\/a> at Coventry University Group, with units such as the Student Engagement Team, Student Success Coaches, Disabled Student Services, the Library, the Centre for Academic Writing and Sigma (stats support) on hand to help.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><mark style=\"background-color:#D1D1E4\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Learners on Apprenticeship Courses are <strong>not automatically <\/strong>assigned a Student Success Coach.
