Complete the dedicated <a href=\"https:\/\/coventry.aula.education\/#\/dashboard\/UTw3bZ0RA4\/community\/feed\">Aula course on the Coventry Way<\/a> to find out about its key principles, and implications for practice as well as to experience Aula, Coventry University Group\u2019s digital learning platform. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This <a href=\"https:\/\/scea.orgdev.coventry.domains\/application\/files\/6415\/2889\/5195\/OTL_Teaching_and_Learning_The_Coventry_Way_vFinal_05-04-18.pdf\">summary of Teaching and Learning: The Coventry Way<\/a> also provides an overview of the approach.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Coventry University Group\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/share.coventry.ac.uk\/staff\/ps\/OTL\/PublishingImages\/Pages\/Strategies\/Education%20and%20Student%20Experience%20Strategy.pdf\">2030 Education and Student Experience Strategy<\/a> sets out the mission and vision of the organisation, as well as key themes relating to our educational offer- all of which influence the way that we approach our teaching, learning and assessment practice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is important to appreciate where your role fits in within the wider organisation: see <a href=\"https:\/\/www.coventry.ac.uk\/the-university\/about-coventry-university\/coventry-university-group-explained\/\">Coventry University Group explained<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AEPD\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/acdev.orgdev.coventry.domains\/professional-development\/academic-induction\/\">Academic induction webpages<\/a>&#8211; and the associated workshop- are essential for colleagues who are new to teaching at the Coventry University Group. You will be added to the <strong>New Academic Network Programme (NANP) <\/strong>after the induction- see below for further details.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Consult Organisational Development\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/livecoventryac.sharepoint.com\/sites\/training-OD-communication\">Induction Hub<\/a> for more general induction requirements, including finance system requests and \u2018Coventry Essentials\u2019 training (mandatory for all staff).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Getting Started<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>As an Assistant Professor (Teaching), it will be important to <strong>understand the courses and modules you are leading and teaching on<\/strong> and how they combine.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You can access Course Specification documents for all the University programmes via the <a href=\"https:\/\/share.coventry.ac.uk\/staff\/ps\/Registry\/qeu\/Pages\/Course%20Specifications.aspx\">Course Specification page<\/a> on the Registry Staff Portal pages.&nbsp; Here you will find the <strong>Part A <\/strong>(public facing document) and<strong> Part B<\/strong> (internal), which provides the Teaching and Learning and Assessment Strategies. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All module descriptors are in the <a href=\"https:\/\/share.coventry.ac.uk\/staff\/Pages\/MID.aspx\">Module Information Directory<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Getting to know your students<\/strong> is central to succeeding as a teacher. <strong>Universe, <\/strong>the student records system, can help you build a profile of learners on your course.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You could also consider running some simple getting-to-know-you activities on Aula or in the classroom so that students can learn about you, too. Find suggestions on Coventry\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/teach.coventry.domains\/?s=icebreakers&amp;ht-kb-search=1&amp;lang=\">Teaching and Learning Knowledge Base<\/a>&nbsp; or try <a href=\"https:\/\/teaching.cornell.edu\/getting-started-icebreakers\">these suggestions<\/a> from Cornell University.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is recommended that you discuss the implications of the Group structure and 2030 Strategy for your role with your <strong>line manager<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As an Assistant Professor (Teaching), you will have\u00a0 Quality Assurance and Course\/Module Management responsibilities.
