However, TED controversially places tighter restrictions on the NonCommercial element of the licence and has argued that university teaching is commercial. Furthermore, in their terms, they exclude specifically “Subscription-Based Educational Services (Online Education Company)”, such as MOOCs platforms (e.g. FutureLearn).
Controversially, they insist that providing links would also breach their copyright – this is against several court rulings.
Note: TEDx is only available on YouTube, which presents other issues:
1. Some international learners may encounter blocking issues with some country’s censorship.
2. Videos can be withdrawn, causing link to break
