Bangladesh has the longest female led government and has part of the world’s largest mangrove, the Sundarbans. Most importantly they have plenty of food for you to try out and enjoy. (Daily-sun.com, 2016)

Starting off this list at number 1 we have Fuchka also known as pani puri or gol gappe. This mouth-watering street food can be found almost anywhere on the streets of Bangladesh, it is with no doubt that this snack is exceedingly popular as it is small in size and ready to eat. ‘A fuchka is made with a mixture of boiled gram and mashed potatoes as filling, the chutney is tangy, and the water is spicy’ (Times food, 2018). This flavoursome snack Is ideal to stop at and grab whilst going about your day in Bangladesh.

  1. Shingara (Bengali samosa)

(One green planet, 2020)

These bite-size dough balls have flavours exploding out so scrumptious you will find it impossible to stop at one! Shingara is almost sold in every corner of Bangladesh especially in sweet shops. The filling inside is out of this world with a variety of vegetables and spices and if you want it sweet filling then that is also available. This popular snack is perfect to much on with a steaming cup of tea.

  1. Amra (Hog plum)

(Facebook, 2019)

If you are a sweet and sour kind of person, then your defiantly in for a treat because 3rd on the list we have is Amra this fruit is excellent to have as a snack. This delicacy can be found wherever you go in Bangladesh, so make sure you do not miss out. Amra has a sweet and sour taste like a granny smith apple but what makes this fruit better is that it is coated with all kinds of seasoning giving you that kick to your day.

  1. Chanchur (crispy spicy snack mix)

(Alamy, 2022)

Up next, we have one of the most common Bangladeshi snacks ‘this snack is savoury, consisting of puffed rice, veggies, and a tangy sauce made of tamarind. The veggies often include onion, potato, and tomato, but exact ingredients vary by location and availability’ (Trip 101, 2021). In western countries you can find these in packets thou they will not taste the same as the Chanchur in Bangladesh so go try them!

  1. Pitha (Bengali dumplings/ pancakes/ fritters)

 (Cookish Creation, 2021) (Bongong, 2012)  (Rumki’s Golden Spoon, 2021)

Last on the list we have is Pitha, which can count like any of the three above, all three have similar taste and texture. Pitha can be served either hot or cold and is a popular sweet delicacy in Bangladesh with the taste of coconut or banana. These are served all year round but there are special Pithe made throughout the harvest festivals in Bangladesh, so if you are craving something sweet make sure to try this.

If you are in Bangladesh or are planning to go soon make sure you also visit the best attractions and historical sites, a wonderful place to check out in Bangladesh must be Cox Bazaar, not only is it famous for its long sandy sea beach but also amazing for its fresh seafood, marine drive and spectacular hospitality so go on and give it an attempt
