Cambridge Tax Discussion Group: A Global Exchange of Ideas
I was honoured to be invited by the University of Cambridge to join the Cambridge Tax Discussion Group, where I engaged with researchers and experts from diverse jurisdictions. The workshop was intellectually stimulating, offering a rare opportunity to exchange ideas with some of the most respected voices in tax law, including Professors Reuven Avi-Yonah, Stephen Daly, Andrew Morriss, Christiana HJI Panayi, and May Hen.
The discussions were rich and nuanced, touching on the future of tax law in a rapidly digitising world. The insights shared during this session have already begun to shape the contours of my research, challenging assumptions and opening new avenues for inquiry.
European Academic Network of VAT Conference – Brussels
In Brussels, I attended the 10th Annual Conference of the European Academic Network of VAT (EANOVAT), where VAT experts from across Europe gathered to discuss the evolving landscape of VAT in the Digital Age.
The seminar reinforced the importance of dynamic legislation and the need for continuous dialogue between theory and practice, an ethos that resonates deeply with my research.
Tax Research Network (TRN) Conference 2025 – Nottingham
In September, I travelled to the vibrant city of Nottingham for the Tax Research Network (TRN) Conference 2025. Over three days, scholars and practitioners convened for rigorous debate and thoughtful reflection on tax policy and administration.
I presented my ongoing research on the legal efficacy of digital VAT collection and enforcement, with a focus on the UK’s MTD framework. The feedback I received was both critical and constructive, helping me refine my arguments and consider new dimensions of the digital tax landscape.
These experiences have not only deepened my understanding of digital tax enforcement but also reaffirmed the value of collaborative scholarship. I’m excited to integrate these insights into my PhD research and look forward to continuing the conversation with this vibrant community of tax law experts.
