Partner University(s)/Organisation(s): Anahuac University (Mexico), Ryerson University (Canada), Universidad de Montevideo (Uruguay)

Project Overview:

In this Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) project, which virtually brought together students from four different countries: the UK, Mexico, Uruguay and Canada, the participants investigated green and sustainability issues within the fashion industry and fashion supply chains. Students from each university had to compile an online presentation about their home country and the sustainability issues in modern fashion supply chains. Within these presentations, students had to compose activities for the other participants.

The aim of the project was to investigate green and sustainable fashion supply chains; however, it was a great opportunity for students to learn about the differences in culture between the four countries through cross-cultural exchange videos. In addition, students had the opportunity to participate in a Q&A session with each of the project leads to help develop their knowledge on sustainable fashion.

Academic Year: 2022-23

Project Leaders: Jim Rowley, Philip Southey

Partner University(s)/Organisation(s): SupplyPlus (Belgium)

Project Overview:

During this COIL project the postgraduate students explored the theories and techniques of Category Management in Procurement and learnt from the Partner (consultant) how to appropriately apply these in industry from her international experience of doing so within blue chip companies.

Students were asked to conduct their own independent learning in teams for each of the key Category Management principles and present their findings to the Partner and the class for discussion and feedback.

This initiative gave students a well-received international exposure to the challenges and opportunities they may face when they commence future Procurement Careers.
