FORMATIVE REFLECTION USING THE ROLFE REFLECTIVE MODEL

WHAT?

Rolfe reflective model is defined as a learning and growth process that involves assessing one’s own practise, encompassing experiences, ideas, feelings, actions, and knowledge (Nelumbu, 2015). This model is widely used because of its simplicity and flexibility. However, has limitations due to its highly subjective and lack depth.

As a student, I have found the feedback provided by my tutors to be invaluable in guiding my academic development. In this reflection, I will utilise the Rolfe Reflective Model to examine the criticism I have received, pinpoint my strong points, and present a concrete action plan for resolving the issues raised.

SO WHAT?

My ability to demonstrate a solid comprehension of the subjects covered in my assignments has been cited by my tutors as one of my strengths. This acknowledgement is especially satisfying because it confirms my dedication to understanding the subject. It’s evident that I’ve invested substantial time and effort in comprehending the complex concepts within the field of global health care management.

Furthermore, my tutors have commended my ability to draw from a diverse range of sources in my research, indicating a good knowledge base and evidence of extensive reading. This reflects my dedication to exploring various perspectives and staying well-informed, a vital skill in the ever-evolving field of global health. Additionally, my writing has received recognition for its coherence and easy flow, facilitating a clear and engaging
reading experience for my audience. This ability is necessary for good communication, which is critical in the management of health care. However, my tutors have also identified a challenge in my academic writing – inadequate critical analysis. This feedback serves as a valuable opportunity for growth. It highlights the importance of delving deeper into the subject matter, questioning assumptions, and critically evaluating the information I encounter.

NOW WHAT?

To address this challenge and capitalize on my strengths, I have developed a clear action plan. Each week, complete three analytical thinking puzzles.  Within the next two months, complete an online logical reasoning course. Participate in a weekly discussion group analysing current events or challenging issues and employ critical writing techniques in my future assignments. The goal is to enhance my critical analysis skills and maintain a strong foundation in understanding and knowledge, ultimately becoming a more effective global healthcare management student.

In conclusion, the Rolfe Reflective Model highlights my strengths and area for improvement. Hence, embracing the feedbacks, I am committed to improving my critical writing skills and enhancing my understanding, knowledge and research skills.
