The Centre for Dance Research (C-DaRE) is located within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Coventry University. The Centre, led by Director Professor Sarah Whatley, specialises in an inclusive interdisciplinary approach to diverse forms of artistic and scholarly research in dance supported by new approaches to documentation, analysis and dissemination of choreographic creativity.


Motion Bank
Secondment Partner in E2-Create.
Motion Bank focuses on digitising practices of key choreographers and dancers for education, research, and creative purposes. Motion Bank develops open software systems for recording, annotation, data management, and online publication, organises Choreographic Coding Labs to give creative coders the chance to work with dance data, and is the initiator with C-DaRE of the Dance Data Network project.

Instituto Stocos
Secondment Partner in E2-Create
Instituto Stocos is a dance technology project under the direction of choreographer Muriel Romero and composer Pablo Palacio. Instituto Stocos focused on the analysis, research and development of the interaction between body gesture, music and interactive visual imagery, integrating in a performative context abstractions taken from other disciplines such as artificial intelligence, biology, mathematics or experimental psychology.


Institute for Computer Music and Sound Technology
Research Partner in E2-Create
The Institute for Computer Music and Sound Technology brings together scientists and artists from various professional backgrounds: mathematics, engineering, audio engineering, psychoacoustics, computer science, generative art, media art, musicology, music theory, performance and composition. This rich mix encourages projects examining the relationship between technology and musical practice, exploring critically the tradition of contemporary and electroacoustic music using methods of both classical and artistic research.


Immersive Art Space
Research Partner in E2-Create
The Immersive Arts Space (IASpace) is a university-wide art/tech lab that serves as a research, teaching and production platform. With innovative and multidisciplinary projects, the team of the IASpace conducts a technologically-supported artistic examination of digital immersion, mixed realities and the convergence of media-based and performative practices. The activities in the IASpace are oriented towards contemporary aesthetic and methodological directions in international design and art and are primarily based on artistic (practice-based) research.
